The same point of view

This one was while travelling to Bangalore. When the seat right in front of you is kissing the tip of your nose, there is not much scope of sketching left. Still, there is this technique developed by this fellow Urban Sketcher which makes you sketch quite a bit. And its fun actually. One can draw stuff that could never have been incorporated in the sketch otherwise. Watch for the artist and his technique here, and here. And the following is my sketch. goIndigo. Delhi to Bangalore.

Metro

This would be my first metro sketch. I love travelling in the metro. Quick and effective means of transportation. This was on my way to college. My college is 45 kms away from my home. Its a 3 hour stretch without metro, with metro, its half the time. Its time i get my scanner repaired. :|

Double Dome..

Yet another sketch involving curriculum... Sketched Humayun's Tomb an year back during the arts and graphics class.. Was fun, though it never got checked...
The sketch seemed more interesting a few days back when our 'history of architecture' teacher explained that this tomb had a double dome built, to avoid the tunnel effect of the dome inside... Each dome with respect to the proportion involved... Thumbsup.. Not a brilliant sketch though.

More to follow...

Uth Cafe

Sorry for the late post, didn't have the camera. I haven't been sketching a lot. Lost touch with pencil sketching. Though i did this work in pen a few days back when i planned on bunking my Design lecture. A few friends accompanied me to this cafe called 'The Uth Cafe' in the university. They ate. I sketched. At times its lovely to not do anything, but what you desire, isn't it? Heres the sketch. There are a few mistakes in this one. I guess i'll get better.

Indoors

Yet another first year exercise. It was the first studio class of Architecture Drawing in first year. Our teacher made us sit in a circle around the composed object. Told us to sketch it. Obviously everybody ended up sketching different compositions of the same object. We had to mark out the well lit areas and shade the darker ones. I got good grades.

More to follow. My camera is not cooperating. :| Neither is my scanner. Therefore, i'm uploading the older works.

Last of The First Ones...

Now that i promised my first post, here it is. In our first year of architecture, there is this useless subject (well, its taught uselessly) called Arts and Graphics. Our first assignment in that subject was to sketch a building on the spot and to point out various principles and elements of design in it. Well, i couldn't spot out the principles and elements of design properly, but one thing that i did good was to sketch the building. The building that i sketched was in Lajpat Nagar. Its right next to the Haldirams restaurant.

I liked the final outcome of the assignment 3 years back. Today when i look at it, i can clearly point our mistakes. Well, thats not important either. What is important is the sketches i made on the site. These sketches have now been added in my portfolio. Don't go by the presentation please. They are on site sketches.

P.S: This blog really works. In the past 4 days, Ive attempted sketching thrice, out of which one attempt was decent. It will be posted soon.

Vast Empty Fields

Greetings!

Welcome to the new space. Its like an empty vast room with nothing in it. Waiting to be invented. It feels good to be constructing a whole new parallel world. I'm adding a new dimension to myself with this new space.

As the author and editor of this blog, i want you to know something. I want YOU to know that YOU are important for this space to be what i want it to be.

This blog will deal with Urban Sketching. A platform not known to many. It is the simplest form of sketching, wherein the sketcher or the artist sketches Urban Landscapes on the spot with any medium of his choice. And by 'On The Spot', i mean, 'ON THE SPOT'. Urban Sketchers are true to their artwork and never post stuff that does not exist. That also means, that nothing on this blog goes imaginary. Everything exists. Its like producing the fake matrix on the paper. Some On-Street Graffiti would also be featured, but thats just 1% of it. The rest will be sketches. Also, they would be On Street. No Sketchbook graffiti.

'Divine Aggression'. Sounds retarded? Is not. As artists people channelize their energy in artwork. I call it the creative energy. Though it exists as the stranger part of me. Its more of an aggression to do something. Therefore, the name.

I came to know about Urban Sketchers through a friend of mine, who himself used to paint on the spot. He does amazing watercolors. The main Urban Sketchers community can be found here. Also, this blog is an extension to my already existing blog which you'll find here.

This blog is just not an attempt to show off my artwork to the world. It has been created for a reason.
1) It will be compulsory for me to post here. Therefore, it will force me to sketch more frequently.
2) To be a member of the Urban Sketchers community, i need to have a portfolio, which will allow me to apply for the blog membership.
3) Art is a part of my strawberry tart.

I hope this works out.

Peace! ;)

P.S: First related post to be published soon.
